What is this?
Every round a cake appears with an odd number of slices. One slice is the best piece: the strawberry. All values are open. On your turn, take a slice and bank its value.
When the strawberry is taken, the rules change. Immediately. The taker doesn't get a vote.
Most points wins the round, unless a rule says otherwise. First to 2 cherries wins the game.
Rule cards in this prototype:
- Greed Flips — lowest score wins the round, from now on.
- The Sharing Platter — every slice you take, the player with the least gains 1.
- Blind Bite — the next player takes face down. The cake chooses for them.
- Debt — each slice after your first costs 1.
- Reverse — turn order reverses after every take.
- Last Slice Rule — whoever takes the final slice gets +3.
- Crumbs — after every take, the leader gives 1 point to the last player.
- The Empty Plate — whoever has the most slices cannot take the highest remaining slice.
- Fork Etiquette — you cannot take the slice next to the one you last took.
- The Baker's Eye — whoever has the fewest slices gets double value on their next take.
- The Stale Slice — the last slice taken each round is worth half.
- No Seconds — you may take two slices in a turn, but the second must be the smallest left.
There is one rule no card can override: the game never rewards profiting from another player's missing slice. The strawberry is the missing slice. The moment it is taken, it is gone for everyone else — and taking it scores nothing, ever.
